Care Tips for Giant Dog Breeds

broken image

Although most giant breeds of dogs won’t need as much daily physical activity, they will, however, need more living space to move around. Weighing anywhere between 100-200 pounds, a dog this big will need a bigger bed, a bigger collar and leash, a bigger crate, etc. They will need proper training so they can be more manageable. They have to go through basic obedience training, leash training, housetraining, etc. These dogs need to heed important commands to keep them in check. As puppies, these dogs can be very energetic and clumsy. In fact, they can knock of things and even small kids unintentionally. With proper training and consistency, a giant dog can grow up to become more gentle and affectionate.

These dogs have special dietary needs. Their daily needs for calories and nutrients can be adequately met with a premium diet specifically formulated for giant breeds. They need extra nutrients that will support joint and bone growth. There is also a special diet for giant breed puppies so they won’t grow up too fast and suffer from orthopedic conditions.
