Cats and the Common Cold

broken image

Have you ever wondered if your cat can catch your cold? If you’re feeling sick then you may want to keep a distance from your cat. Sure, you can still pet your cat, but try to avoid being in your cat’s face. Wash your hands often as well. Although dogs, in most cases, cannot get a cold from people, cat’s in some cases can. Why? Some cats can easily pick up germs from people and spread them to other cats including germs from the cold virus. The cold virus attaches itself to the cells in a cat’s respiratory tract, which is very similar to a person’s respiratory tract. This can make some cats highly susceptible to human colds. If you or your family is sick with a cold, remember to wash your hands and avoid super close interaction with your cat. Contact your best vet clinic Mt. Airy MD.
