Helping Your Lazy Dog Live Longer

broken image

Dogs need regular physical activity. Some daily aerobic exercise can contribute positively to a dog’s health, well-being, and longevity. If your dog lives a sedentary life, avoid doing too much at once. Gradually introduce and create opportunities for exercise such as a game of fetch or Frisbee. Here are some tips to get your lazy dog up and about:

  • Hide some treats or kibbles around the house for your dog to find later.
  • If your dog loves to swim, you can take him swimming or you can fill a tub with some water and let him paddle and splash around. But be sure to supervise him closely.
  • Put some of his favorite treats inside a rubber toy and let him play fetch.
  • Take him on regular outdoor excursions. The various sights and sounds can be physically and mentally stimulating to your pooch.
