Hot Spots on Cats

You may be familiar with hot spots on dogs, but did you know that cats can get hot spots too? Hot spots can cause extremely sensitive, irritated and even hot to the touch skin on your cat. If you notice that your cat is constantly chewing at an area of skin on her leg or tail or excessively scratching at these areas, then call your vet to schedule a checkup. Hot spots can flare up when an area of the skin is excessively scratched, chewed or licked. The cause may be a bite from a flea, tick, or other insect.
