broken image

If you suspect your dog has bloat then please call your veterinarian or emergency vet and take your dog in right away. Only a professional veterinarian can diagnose bloat, make treatment recommendations and begin treatment on your dog. What is bloat? Canine bloat is also called Gastric Dilation-Volvulus. Bloat is serious and almost always fatal when immediate medical attention is not available. Bloat happens when abnormal amounts of gas, food or fluid builds-up in the stomach causing it to expand. The stomach expanding can cause pressure on the stomach liner (which may tear) and pressure on surrounding organs. It can prevent blood flow to vital organs. Symptoms include attempts to vomit, anxiety, restlessness, hunched up appearance, no normal digestive sounds in the stomach, bloated or tight abdomen, whining, pacing, drooling, unsuccessful attempts to poop, heavy breathing, etc. Learn more here or call your pet clinic Sarasota, FL.
