One of the best ways to keep your cat warm in the winter is to ensure she stays indoors during snow storms and especially cold days. If your cat won’t stay inside then make sure she has access to a covered area where she can receive shelter from the wind and the cold. Provide a cat bed and blanket in that area as well. If your cat is elderly then she may need a coat or blanket to wrap around her. Be careful that she doesn’t get too hot. Watch her for signs of panting which could indicate overheating. You can also feel her ears, belly, underarms, etc. to get an idea of how warm she is. If you think she’s too warm then remove a blanket or take her coat off. You may want to check your inside house temperature too. Keep if comfortable, but not too hot. Read more here or call your vets Michigan City, IN.
