Make Sure Your Parakeet Gets Enough Sleep

· Bird care
broken image

Your parakeet will take daytime naps but he needs to sleep deeply overnight. Help your parakeet get enough sleep by giving him privacy. Place your parakeet’s cage away from drafts and out of direct sunlight. Put the cage where your family gathers but avoid the main traffic area of the house so your parakeet can rest. He will nap while the family is at work or school. Your parakeetwill tuck his head under his wing or he may snuggle into his chest area. He may close his eyes when he sleeps. Don’t startle or disturb your bird while he is napping. Use a thin piece of cloth to place over the cage at night. This cloth won’t restrict airflow as it createsdarkness so your parakeet can sleep. This cover will make your parakeet feel more secure since it can protect him from predators sneaking up to his cage. Learn more from your licensed vets Greenbrae CA.
