Multiple Litter Boxes in the Home

broken image

As a general rule of thumb, cat owners should have one litter box per cat in the home. If you have three cats then three litter boxes are recommended maybe even four just to have an extra one for emergencies. Cats like to use their own litter box and they can be very protective of it and block other cats from using it. Some cats also have a tendency to use the litter box at the same time. If there’s not enough room then your cat will use the floor instead. If your cats don’t mind sharing a litter box, multiple boxes available will help keep the smell down because they will each be used instead of just one box being filled to overflowing. If you have one cat but live in a multi level home then two litter boxes may also work best. For suggestions and tips, give your Aurora, CO vet a call.
