Should You Microchip Your Cat?

broken image

It’s true that a microchip will only work in identifying your cat if the person who finds your cat takes the cat to the vet or shelter to be scanned. However, a microchip could be excellent ID backup should your cat lose her collar with ID tags on it. Microchips are inserted in a cat just below the skin between the shoulder blades. The procedure is similar to the cat getting a shot. You can then take the microchip ID code and call it in to a monitoring service and have your contact information connected to it. The best form of ID is a collar with a printed number on it or a collar with an ID tag. A microchip is a great back up and can be done at your vet’s office. Give your animal hospital Cedar City, UT a call to learn more.
