If your child is asking for a pet there are a few questions you can ask yourself to help decide if it’s time for your child to have a pet or if you should wait a little longer. First off, take your child’s age into consideration. Even if he wants a pet, is he old enough to care for it? I.e. can he physically walk the dog or pour food and water into the bowls yet? If not then he’s probably too young. If your child is old enough, strong enough and tall enough for the basic chores, ask yourself if your child is responsible enough to take your dog out daily, feed him daily, and clean up after the dog daily.
