Barking
Sugar gliders love to bark. Their bark sounds like that of a small puppy. It’s their way of communicating with other sugar gliders or with their owners. Since they are nocturnal, you may have mistaken you sugar glider’s bark with the barking of your neighbor’s little dog during the night.
Hissing
Sugar gliders can also hiss like a cat. There are various modifications to their hissing, depending on the situation. A sugar glider may hiss to say “hello” or it may mean “ get out of my way. They may also hiss while they are doing their business.
