Tips for Showing Your Guinea Pig

broken image

Have you ever been interested in showing your guinea pig at shows? There are small shows and then there are shows held by the American Rabbit Breeders Association (ARBA). The ARBRA includes guinea pigs. They recognize thirteen breeds of guinea pigs or cavies and the host a variety of shows. If you want to get into showing, contact the ARBA and register your guinea pig and become a member. Next, find a show and sign up. Be sure to sign up for the class that is specifically for your guinea pig’s breed. Classes are also broken down by age. Senior classes (over 6 months), Intermediate (4 to 6 months), and Junior (under 4 months). Weight is also a factor. Seniors are over 32 ounces. Intermediates are over 22 ounces with a max of 32 ounces. Juniors are a minimum of 12 ounces and a maximum of 22 ounces. Check with your trusted pet clinic Glen Ellyn, IL for your guinea pig’s weight.
