Training your dog to roll over is a fun trick that helps you bond with him. It is an advanced command and your dog will need to have mastered both sitting and lying down on command first. With your dog lying down, hold a food treat in front of his nose. Move the treat to the side of your dog’s head in the direction you want him to roll over. Say your dog’s name and the ROLL OVER command. Continue this movement until he rolls over to his side and then move the treat so he will roll over completely. You can hold and guide his body lightly if needed. Once he rolls over, give your dog the treat and lots of praise. Practice this often so you can gradually reduce and eventually eliminate the treats.
