A general rule of thumb for knowing when to bring your dog indoors is whether or not you can stand being outdoors. If it’s too cold for you to be outdoors for a long period of time (i.e. longer than 30 minutes) then it’s too cold for your dog to be outdoors. At this point you should bring your dog inside. If your dog is destructive indoors then consider leaving him in the garage or in a laundry room. Provide him with blankets, towels or other bedding. If this doesn’t work then consider purchasing a crate large enough for your dog to sleep in. This way he can stay inside the house and you won’t have to worry about him being destructive. If your dog does go outdoors, he should not be out longer than 20 to 30 minutes to avoid hypothermia. For more tips, contact your vet Roanoke, VA.
