Why Do Some Cats Lick?

As a cat parent, you may have noticed that your cats lickall the time. A cat’s tongue is one of its best assets. They use it in manydifferent ways, from hygiene to showing affection.  

The cat’s tongue contains many papillae, which are curvedspines for grooming purposes. Another reason why cats lick is to showaffection. This is one of their ways to socialize among other cats and animals and also humans. When they lick you, it only means they like you.   

This behavior has been passed down from when they arestill babies. Their mother would lick them to show their affection to them.They know they are cared for when they were licked. This trait will be carried until they grow into adult cats.
