Cooling Off Your Horse in the Summer

broken image

Keeping your horse cool and healthy in the summer is an important part of providing for his overall health and wellness. One way to keep your horse cool is to provide a boxed fan that can be placed on your horse’s stall and plugged in during the day. This provides air flow for your horse while he stays indoors in his stall. Outside, make sure your horse has plenty of access to fresh water. Use multiple water troughs if you have multiple horses. You can also provide misting fans in the barn, in the run in sheds or in designated areas of the pasture or paddock. The fans blow water or mist water onto the horses to keep them cool. Another way is to go outdoors and spray the horses down with the water hose. Either bring them in for this or use the hose outside. For more tips, talk to your veterinary clinic Westminster, MD.
