Ear Care Tips For Dogs

broken image

Regular ear checks should be an important part of your pet’s grooming routine. Some dogs tend to produce a lot of earwax or they may have a lot of hairs in their inner ear, situations that can increase their risks for ear infections. But the ears are sensitive, so frequent and/or deep cleaning can increase the risk of irritation. Also, don’t attempt to insert anything into your pet’s ear because it may cause trauma or infection.

Dirty ears can be cleaned using a cotton ball or gauze moistened with a suitable ear cleaning solution. But if it is not available, you can use mineral oil or hydrogen peroxide. While cleaning your pet’s ears, gently fold back his ears so you can wipe any dirt or debris on the ears’ underside. Always remember that the deeper into the ear you go, the more sensitive and delicate are the structures.

Any signs of ear infection should be brought to the attention of your vet Westminster, MD sooner rather than later. Make an appointment here: https://mtairyvets.com/
