Shampoos and dips are just two of the various products that are used to help stop flea infestations on pets.
Using an effective flea shampoo is the first thing you need to do to help deal with a severe flea infestation. Read the label on the anti-flea shampoo before you use it on your pet. There are active chemical ingredients in anti-flea shampoos, so make sure they’re safe for use in your pet. Given the duration of the effect of anti-flea shampoos (usually just a day or so), you need to use it on a regular basis to prevent flea re-infestation and protect your pet's skin.
On the other hand, flea dip products contain ingredients that are helpful in getting rid of pesky fleas, as well as ticks and mites. These products contain harsher chemicals, hence vets refrain from recommending these unless there's a really heavy flea infestation. Unlike anti-flea shampoos, flea dips are effective for 1 to 2 weeks.
