Dogs in the wild use body language to communicate with each other. Your dog will use that same body language to communicate with you. Thus you need to know what this body language means. It is easy to tell he is afraid if you see your dog sulking away as he carries his tail between his legs. You may think he is acting guilty when he does this after misbehaving. However, he is more likely afraid of how you act after you see him doing something bad rather than feeling guilty. Your dog may bow with a toy or a stick if he wants to play. He is feeling confident when he holds his head high and raises his tail up. Your dog may show dominance by puffing up his fur and acting aggressively.
